The first 100 days of the Biden presidency: what Americans are satisfied and dissatisfied with

More than half of Americans (55%) approve of the activities of the President of the United States Joe Biden after almost 100 days of his work in the post, dissatisfied — 40%. This is reported by ReutersReuters with reference to the Ipsos survey.

The survey was conducted from April 12 to 16 among 4,423 American adults.

It is reported that Biden received 65% of support for measures taken to combat the coronavirus epidemic (90% of supporters of Democrats, 61% of independents, and 39% of Republicans). Earlier, in January, 38% of Americans approved of the measures to combat COVID-19% adopted by former President Donald Trump.

In addition, 52% of respondents said they are satisfied with the way the Democrat is managing the US economy. 53% support Biden's policy of increasing the number of jobs in the US. The figures in these categories in both cases are several percentage points higher than Trump's estimates in the last month of his presidency, the agency notes.

Despite this, Americans mostly do not support Biden's immigration policy — 42% are satisfied against 49% are dissatisfied.

56% of respondents approved of Biden's efforts to unite the “deeply divided electorate” in the United States (88% of Democrats, 23% of Republicans, and 48% of independents).

Also, Americans mostly approve of the current president's policies on the environment (54%) and the fight against racial inequality (51%).

“Biden's approval numbers reflect public support for his ambitious agenda, including a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package, and should help him pursue other initiatives,” says Julian Zelizer, a political historian at Princeton University.
Reuter writes that the popularity of the Democrat over the past year has grown among the general population of the United States, and not only among white Americans with higher education — they made up the main share of his electorate in the elections. He also became more supported by “traditionally conservative” white American voters without a college degree.

Biden has also become more popular over the past year among racial minorities: 68% of Latinos have a positive view of him. This is 12 points more than in April last year, the source said.

— On March 11, 2021, Biden signed the “US rescue plan” for $1.9 trillion: most Americans will receive $1,400 each.

— On March 12, the Democrat stated that the entire adult population of the United States will be able to be vaccinated against the coronavirus until May 1. He later said that he would be able to fulfill his promise even faster.

— On April 23, Biden decided to raise taxes on the rich by almost half to fund a $1 trillion plan to support American families. He will present the plan to Congress on April 28.
