Biden says “amazing progress” in the fight against COVID-19

The head of the White House said that the US administration hopes that by July 4, when the country celebrates Independence Day, the US will feel significant relief and “independence from the virus”.

“I would like to talk about the latest changes announced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. First, I must say that we still have a long battle ahead of us and a lot of work in May and June to get us to July 4. We have made tremendous progress thanks to you, the American people. Cases and death rates have fallen dramatically since I took office on January 20. And they continue to fall,” Biden said.

The American president noted that the decline in these indicators is especially noticeable among people from at-risk groups-pensioners. He recalled that until January 20, the United States lost 10 thousand pensioners every week. Biden stressed that in the first 100 days of his administration, more than 67% or almost two-thirds of all senior citizens of America were fully vaccinated.

“This has resulted in an 80% reduction in mortality among older Americans,” Biden said.

Recall, today the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the easing of the mask regime in the country. Now, those who are fully vaccinated can not wear a mask while on the street, provided that the person is not in a large group of people, for example, at a stadium, conference, or concert.
