The US has made 200 million vaccinations against coronavirus

The United States was able to get 200 million vaccinations against the new coronavirus during the first 100 days of the new administration. This was stated on Wednesday by US President Joe Biden, speaking at the White House.

He recalled that he initially announced his goal of 100 million vaccinations in the country in the first 100 days of his presidency, but it was achieved in mid-March.

“And, so I set a second goal — to get 200 million vaccinations in the first 100 days of my presidency.<...> We managed to achieve this. Today, on the 92nd day of our [presidential] tenure, we have received 200 million vaccinations, " the Head of state said.

According to the head of the White House, at the rate of vaccination under the administration of his predecessor, Donald Trump, the country would have reached the current figure only in September. “Instead of marking this important milestone in April, we would have reached it no earlier than early September. Some experts say that our rapid vaccination rates have already saved tens of thousands of Americans.< ... > But we still have a long way to go, " Biden said.

He added that the vaccine is now available to all adult residents of the country. “If you are 16 years old or older, you are entitled to a free vaccination against COVID-19,” the head of state noted. According to him, 80% of Americans over the age of 65 have received at least one dose of the vaccine at the moment. In addition, the American leader continued, the country has recorded a sharp decrease in the mortality of elderly people as a result of infection.

According to Johns Hopkins University, which conducts calculations based on information from federal and local authorities, more than 31.8 million cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the United States, and more than 568.7 thousand people have died. The country ranks first in the world in both indicators.
