Biden accused of “weakness” in relations with Russia

Representatives of the Republican Party of the country criticized US President Joe Biden for his “weak approach” in relations with Russia in the US Congress. This is reported by National Review on April 20.

As the head of the group of congressional conservatives, Jim Banks, noted, the current American president returned to the policy of “reset” in relations with Russia, conducted by the administration of President Barack Obama.

At the same time, according to Republicans, although during the election campaign, the Democratic leader called Trump's actions in relation to Moscow “not tough enough”, the positive rhetoric of the former US president against Russian President Vladimir Putin did not prevent him, for example, from increasing the US military presence in Europe and introducing a series of sanctions against Russia.

At the same time, according to Banks, Biden's tough statements are not supported by real actions and demonstrates the “dangerous weakness” of the current head of the White House. So, the current US president “unconditionally” extended the START-3 treaty without provisions on modern weapons, and also imposed “toothless” sanctions against the Russian state debt.

The head of the Republicans also added that congressmen are concerned about the position of the current head of the White House on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, as Biden previously said that the introduction of new sanctions against this project would “complicate” the situation of American allies.

Earlier, the US Congressmen adopted a resolution calling on the US government to continue sanctions pressure on China because of the situation in Hong Kong.
