German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that, despite the existing differences in the West's relations with Moscow, it is necessary to maintain a dialogue with Russia.
She said this via video link at the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
“We must remain in dialogue,” Merkel said.
At the same time, she acknowledged that there are “a lot of conflicts that complicate relations” with Russia.
Merkel noted that Germany, despite the opinion of other EU countries, decided in favor of Nord Stream 2.
She added that in conversations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, she openly criticizes some things.
