Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the US statement that the Russian state may face consequences if blogger Alexei Navalny dies in prison.
"We do not perceive such statements voiced by representatives of other states in any way. The state of health of convicts and prisoners on the territory of the Russian Federation cannot and should not be a topic of their interest," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.
Earlier it was reported that the doctors decided to transfer Navalny from the colony to the hospital for convicts in Vladimir.
On the eve of April 18, the assistant to the President of the United States for National Security, Jake Sullivan, said that Russia would face consequences if Alexei Navalny died in a penal colony.
On February 2 of this year, the court, at the request of the Federal Penitentiary Service, canceled Navalny's suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case due to numerous violations. The suspended sentence was replaced by 3.5 years of real-time in a general regime colony, taking into account the term of house arrest. At the moment, Navalny is serving his sentence in the correctional colony No. 2 of the Vladimir region.
