Washington Imposes New Sanctions on Venezuela: Details

Today, on February 7, it became known that the United States had imposed new sanctions on Venezuela.

This was reported by the US Treasury.

It is noted that the sanctions were imposed on Venezuelan airline Conviasa, adding its forty aircraft to the blacklist.

“Maduro's illegitimate regime relies on the Venezuelan state airline Conviasa, which sends corrupt officials around the world to support its anti-democratic efforts,” said Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

Mnuchin also said Washington would not allow Maduro to further rob the locals.

“The Trump administration will not allow Maduro and his proxies to continue stealing from the Venezuelan people and misusing government assets to promote their own corrupt and destabilizing activities,” Mnuchin stressed.

Conviasa is Venezuela's largest airline. The entry of individuals and legal entities into the US sanction completely blocks their financial accounts in the US.

The United States has imposed sanctions on the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization and its leader, Ali Akbar Salehi. Deutsche Welle writes about it.

The sanctions were reportedly passed through a decree by US President Donald Trump “aimed at the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their supporters,” said US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook.
