Angela Merkel was vaccinated against coronavirus

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who canceled an appointment for a coronavirus vaccination last Sunday, still took the first dose of the AstraZeneca drug.

This was announced by the official representative of the German government Steffen Seibert.

He published a photo of the vaccination certificate, which says that 66-year-old Angela Merkel was vaccinated on April 16. She was injected with the drug Vaxzevria — a trademark of the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

“I am glad that today I received my first AstraZeneca vaccination. I want to thank everyone who participates in the vaccination campaign, and everyone who has been vaccinated, " the official quotes the Bundeskanzler, who called the vaccination “the key to victory over the coronavirus epidemic.”

Merkel became almost the last among the European leaders who confirmed that they were vaccinated against COVID-19. It was overtaken by the Prime Ministers of Great Britain, France, Serbia, and many other countries.
