Biden has declared a state of emergency in the U.S.

The U.S. is waiting for a response for the sanctions imposed against Russia today-the president has increased the level of readiness of state bodies.

Amid the introduction of a new sanctions package against Russia, US President Biden declared a new state of emergency in his country.

This is reported by the press service of the White House.

"I have issued an executive order declaring a national emergency in response to an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States due to certain malicious foreign activities of the Government of the Russian Federation," Biden said in a memo to Congress.

He noted that the reason for this decision was such actions of the Russian Federation:

— attempts to undermine free and democratic elections and democratic institutions in the United States, its allies and partners;

— malicious use of cyberspace against the United States, its allies, and partners;

— supporting and engaging in transnational corruption to influence foreign governments;
extraterritorial actions against the opposition or journalists;

— undermining security in countries and regions important to US national security;

— violation of the established principles of international law, including respect for the territorial integrity of other States.

Earlier in the day, the White House announced sanctions against dozens of Russian citizens and Russian companies due to the occupation of Crimea, interference in the election process in America, and assistance to Russian special services.
