The capital of Austria is traditionally ready to become a platform for the US-Russian summit, the Austrian Foreign Ministry said.
The summit of American leader Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin could take place this summer on the territory of a third state. This was stated by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki at a briefing on Tuesday, April 13.
According to Biden's official representative, the arrangements for the meeting are still in the early stages, and therefore it is too early to talk about specific dates and venue.
At the same time, Psaki said that face-to-face talks are expected to take place “in the coming months.”
According to the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Vienna, which traditionally acts as a venue for negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States on arms control, expressed a desire to become a platform for a meeting of the two leaders.
At the same time, the Austrian ministry stressed that the decision on whether to hold such a summit, when and where, remains with both countries.
Recall that during a telephone conversation between Biden and Putin, the head of the White House suggested that the interlocutor hold a summit meeting in the near future.
