US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab during a telephone conversation accused Russia of provocations and expressed their support for Ukraine, a State Department spokesman said in a statement.
“The Secretary of State and the Foreign Minister discussed Afghanistan and reaffirmed their support for Ukraine in the face of Russian provocations. They stressed the need for Moscow to immediately put an end to the military buildup and inflammatory rhetoric, “ Ned Price, an official representative of the US Department of State, said in a statement released by the State Department. The statement does not specify what kind of provocations they are talking about.
Earlier, Washington announced the escalation of ”Russian aggression“ and the movement of Russian troops in Crimea and on the eastern border of Ukraine. The US called on Russia to explain these alleged movements and said it was ready to communicate. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the American side was given explanations last week. He noted that in the “tone and perspective” proposed by the United States, Russia will not conduct a dialogue, and Washington will have to be satisfied with the explanations already received.
