The head of the US State Department, Antony Blinken, will hold a series of meetings in Brussels next week with US partners in the North Atlantic Alliance. This was reported by Bloomberg on Friday, April 9.
According to the publication, the reason for the second visit of the US Secretary of State to Belgium in a month is the build-up of Russian troops near the border of Ukraine.
So, Blinken will be in one of the political centers of the European Union for several days. At the same time, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will arrive in Brussels, where he is scheduled to hold talks with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
It should be noted that the upcoming meeting of Blinken with NATO allies became known after the statement of the press service of the State Department that the United States is concerned about the actions of the Russian Federation, which lead to an escalation of tension in Ukraine. At the same time, the ministry stressed that they are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the Ukrainian authorities.
Recall that Blinken's previous visit to the Belgian capital lasted from March 22 to 25.
As reported, the day before, the US Secretary of State discussed with his French and German colleagues the aggravation of the situation at the Russian-Ukrainian border. During the talks, the parties expressed concern about the aggravation of the situation in the Donbas.
