Czech Health Minister Jan Blatny has been dismissed.
Today, Blatny and Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis gave a press conference. During the meeting, the latter announced and decided to dismiss the former and appoint Peter Arenberger, Director of the Faculty Hospital in Prague, as the new head of the Ministry of Health.
“I believe that this was done for political reasons. I myself treated my work honestly, using all my knowledge and strength, “ Blatny said.
Earlier, Babis said that the European Union indirectly forces the Czech Republic to purchase the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V” before its registration by the European Medicines Agency, because in practice, the EU does not have solidarity in the distribution of vaccines against coronavirus infection. Czech President Milos Zeman has repeatedly called for the purchase of Sputnik V, and Blatny said that he would not allow the use of the vaccine before registration.
In early March, the Committee on Medicines for Medical Use of the EMA began the procedure of sequential examination of the registration dossier of Sputnik V. It will assess the compliance of the vaccine with the standards for effectiveness, safety, and quality established in the European Union.
