Former Crown Prince of Jordan placed under house arrest

The half-brother of the King of Jordan, former Crown Prince Hamzah bin Al-Hussein, was placed under house arrest.

The Prince said that he was unable to get in touch. In addition, he was stripped of his security detail.

“I am prohibited from leaving my home and going out, communicating with people and using the Internet because of having criticized the actions of the government or the King at meetings I attended or in (social media) posts about these meetings,” Al-Hussein said.

He noted that he is now at home with his wife and children. The Prince explained that he was not accused of criticizing the authorities. At the same time, he was given a warning.

“I am not a member of a conspiracy, or a malicious organization or a group supported from abroad, as is customary here to brand those who speak out against the authorities,” Al-Hussein said.

He added that several of his acquaintances were detained with him. At the same time, the prince did not mention their names. Earlier, the UN revealed the number of victims of the military coup in Myanmar. According to experts, more than 500 people were killed in the country.
