US chief infectious disease doctor Anthony Fauci says the country may abandon the vaccine against COVID-19, developed by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca.
This was reported by Reuters.
“This issue is still in limbo. I think that, given the contractual relationship that we have with a number of companies, we have enough vaccines to cover all our needs without the use of AstraZeneca,” he said.
Note that there are currently three registered coronavirus vaccines in the U.S.: Pfizer and BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson&Johnson.
In addition, in March, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the U.S. would make its AstraZeneca stockpile available to other countries.
We previously reported that the British medical regulator found 30 cases of thrombosis in those vaccinated against COVID-19 with AstraZeneca's coronavirus drug.
