The Chinese authorities are ready to continue to cooperate with WHO specialists who are investigating the origin of COVID-19, but at the same time, they are asking experts to deal with the military laboratory in the United States.

The World Health Organization (WHO) should study the leak of a coronavirus infection from a US military laboratory. This was stated by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying.

“Regarding the continued likelihood of a virus leak as a result of a laboratory incident, the members of the expert group stated that, if necessary, they will conduct research in laboratories around the world. As you know, such studies have already been conducted in the laboratories in Wuhan. However, when will Fort Detrick open to experts? “ she said at a meeting with media representatives.

Chunying added that the media does not have any information about the Fort Detrick laboratory.

“The news about it was in June 2019, but then they were gone,” the diplomat said.

She added that the Chinese authorities are ready to continue to cooperate with WHO experts who are investigating the origin of the coronavirus.

“This is not an investigation, but a scientific study. It should be global in nature and not limited to any region of the world, " Hua Chunying said.

It should be noted that the laboratory at Fort Detrick in the US state of Maryland is home to the Walter Reed Army Research Institute. The institution reports to the Pentagon and is engaged in biomedical research.

On the eve of the WHO published a report on the trip to Wuhan. Experts practically rejected the version about the” artificial origin " of the coronavirus infection.

Meanwhile, the US is among 14 countries concerned about the WHO report on the origin of COVID-19. Countries called for a detailed analysis of the situation, claiming that WHO did not provide the data in full.
