In US Senate — the upper house of Congress — on Monday, the final hearings in the trial of impeachment proceedings against us President Donald Trump began.

“I want to say on behalf of the house of representatives that it is your duty to condemn President Trump,” democratic house member Jason crow said at the beginning of the hearing.

During the hearing, “impeachment managers” and the Trump defense team will present closing arguments in the impeachment case.

“Impeachment managers” are the first to present arguments in favor of removing Trump.

Trump's defense will speak after the final arguments of the Democrats are announced.

According to the American media, each side has two hours, to sum up, the results of the trial.

Then, senators are expected to speak. The duration of each Senator's statement should not exceed 10 minutes.

The Senate proceedings against trump focus on two counts previously approved on a vote in the house of representatives-abuse of power and obstruction of an investigation that was conducted by Congress.

Democrats initiated impeachment proceedings against the President on September 24, 2019, after an American informant expressed concern about a telephone conversation between Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky that took place on July 25. During the conversation, Trump called on Zelensky to launch an investigation into former us Vice President Joe Biden and his son hunter, as well as alleged interference in the 2016 us election from the territory of Ukraine.

The Senate will hold the final vote on trump's impeachment on February 5. It will take place at 16:00 local time. Thus, the impeachment case will be completed.
