US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Washington is close to completing its review of Russia's “hostile” actions and intends to take serious measures. His words were broadcast on CNN.

Blinken stressed that the United States sees various examples of Russian aggression — hacker attacks, interference in elections, the use of chemical weapons. And for that, the country, the Secretary of State says, will pay the price.

He also touched upon the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Blinken said that the United States has expressed its attitude to Germany. “According to [US] legislation, we have imposed sanctions against companies that are involved in the construction and are trying to complete the pipeline. We have made it clear that we will continue to do this, “ Blinken announced his intention to increase sanctions against Russia.

The United States considers the pipeline a geopolitical project aimed at dividing Europe and reducing European energy security. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has previously threatened that sanctions threaten all participants in the work.

Meanwhile, the German authorities are trying several ways to overcome Washington's resistance. First, Berlin is trying to delay the negotiations in order to move them to the active stage after the construction is completed.
