US President Joe Biden will join the leaders of the G7 countries on Friday, February 19, at a virtual summit, where he plans to discuss efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and restore the global economy.
This is reported by CNN.
It is noted that this is his first meeting with the leaders of the” Big Seven “ as president of the United States.
Biden will focus on the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including coordinating the production, distribution, and delivery of the vaccine.
In addition, the US president will discuss with other leaders at the summit the recovery of the economy, which has been hit hard by the pandemic.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said earlier that he would use the virtual event to call on world leaders to cooperate globally in the battle against the” common enemy “ — the coronavirus.
He will call on them to “work together on a unified global approach to pandemics that puts an end to the nationalist and divisive policies that distorted the initial response to the coronavirus.”
The leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the European Commission, and the European Council will also take part in the virtual meeting, which will be organized by the United Kingdom.
