The Latvian government has approved stricter restrictions to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, providing for the transfer of citizens to remote work from March 16. LETA agency reports.
This requirement does not apply to citizens working in manufacturing enterprises, as well as performing work that cannot be performed remotely. These institutions will operate under shifts and maximum employee distancing. In addition, the employer will need to identify employees who need to perform work on the spot, and all the rest will be transferred to “remote work”.
“If an employee points out objective circumstances that prevent him from performing work remotely at the place of residence, the employer should consider the possibility that he can perform work on the spot, providing appropriate epidemiological safety measures and personal protective equipment,” the government said.
Moreover, if the situation with the incidence of COVID-19 in the country becomes worse, the authorities are ready to introduce a lockdown in Latvia.
