Bidding started with a starting price of $100

Auction house Christie sold the digital painting “The First Five Thousand Days” by artist Mike Winkelmann (Beeple) for 69 million dollars.

Reported by Reuters.

The lot was sold as a non-fungible token (NFT). The auction lasted for two weeks, and the auction began with a starting price of $100.

The work is a collage of five thousand drawings — since 2007, the author has published one every day and has not missed a single day.

This deal essentially began a new era in collecting — digital assets began to compete in price with paintings by Picasso, Monet, and Banksy.

As previously reported, actress Angelina Jolie auctioned off a landscape painted by Winston Churchill in 1943. A record $11.6 million was offered for the painting.

We also wrote that a painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli was sold for a record amount of $92.2 million.
