Gorillas from the San Diego Zoo became the first primates in the world to receive an injection of the drug for COVID-19.
At the zoo in the American city of San Diego, five bonobos and four orangutans received a coronavirus vaccine intended for pets. They decided to vaccinate the animals after eight gorillas became infected with COVID-19 in January, writes Business Insider.
An experimental COVID drug was developed by the veterinary pharmaceutical company Zoetis. Gorillas from the San Diego Zoo were the first primates to receive an injection from the coronavirus.
It is noted that this vaccine is not suitable for human use.
