The former coach of the US women's national gymnastics team, John Geddert, has been charged with human trafficking, sexual activity and forming an organized criminal group, AP reports.
The prosecutor's office of the State of Michigan charged the coach with two dozen crimes. According to the agency, Geddert involved minors in forced labor. He is also accused of raping a minor in 2012.
Geddert was suspended after lying to investigators during an interview in the case of former USA gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar, who was found guilty of molesting underage female athletes.
The specialist claimed that he had never heard of complaints against the doctor, although the victims claimed that the coach forced them to see Nassar and subjected them to physical violence.
Geddert was the head coach of the U.S. women's gymnastics team at the 2021 Olympic Games in London. Then the team won gold in the team championship.
