The U.S. Senate approved a candidate for the post of permanent representative to the UN
The US Senate has approved the candidacy of Linda Thomas-Greenfield for the post of the permanent representative of the state to the UN.
Thomas-Greenfield will take the place of Kelly Craft, who left the position at the change of leadership in January.
Thomas-Greenfield is a 68-year-old American diplomat. She was Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs under President Barack Obama.
Earlier, the UN Secretary-General called the past 6 years the hottest in history.
