Biden honors the victims of COVID-19

In the United States, five-day mourning has been declared for fellow citizens who have died as a result of infection with coronavirus, the number of which in the country has exceeded half a million.

United States President Joe Biden honored the memory of Americans who died from complications of coronavirus disease. The ceremony, which took place on Monday, February 22, at the White House, was broadcast by the press office of the residence.

Note, according to the statistical website Worldometer, as of Monday evening, the number of victims of COVID-19 in the States amounted to 512,473 people, of which 1,256 died in the last 24 hours.

“We must fight this (pandemic) together as one people. Like the United States of America. Only in this way will we defeat this virus,” the head of state said to his fellow citizens.

After the speech, Biden and his wife Jill went to the South Portico of the White House, where 500 candles were burning, symbolizing the 500,000 victims of the coronavirus.

There they, along with Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Douglas Emhoff, bowed their heads, listened to the famous church hymn Amazing Grace, and then returned to the building.

According to the latest data, 28.8 million cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the United States, while 19.1 million people have already recovered from the infection.

As reported, the States called on the World Health Organization to actively investigate the causes of the coronavirus.
