Snowstorm in the US claimed the lives of 50 people

Most of the victims are in Texas. There, millions of households are without electricity and do not have access to clean tap drinking water.

At least 47 people were killed in the United States due to abnormal frosts and snowfall. Authorities do not rule out that the number of victims in the coming days may increase, writes The Washington Post.

Most of the dead were in the state of Texas, where bad weather led to a massive power outage. 30 people died in the region.

The state authorities fear that the power supply is unlikely to be restored by the weekend. Texas lost 40% of its generating capacity. Natural gas wells and pipelines, as well as wind turbines, are frozen.

Millions of Texas households remain without electricity today. More than 12 million people do not have permanent access to clean tap drinking water.

Before that, it was reported that in Texas, because of the frost, residential buildings are destroyed. In the state, for the first time in 30 years, the air temperature dropped to minus 20 degrees Celsius.

It was also reported that in the United States, due to record frosts, oil production fell significantly.
