Volcano Etna erupts in Sicily

The eruption volcano Etna began on the Italian island of Sicily. The video of the natural phenomenon was posted by user Isabella Librando on her Twitter.

The footage shows a column of ash, which is illuminated by the rays of the sun at sunset. As noted by the ANSA agency, the eruption is accompanied by the release of volcanic ash and lava flow.

The increase in activity was recorded by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology on Tuesday, February 16, from 16:10 local time. It was established that the cause of the eruption was an earthquake below the southeastern crater at a depth of about three kilometers.

Etna is considered the most active and largest active volcano in Europe. The height of the volcano is 3328 meters.
