Meghan Markle wins lawsuit against tabloid who published her letter to her father
The wife of British Prince Harry Meghan Markle won a lawsuit against the British tabloid The Mail on Sunday, which published the text of her letter to her father, BBC reports.
Judge Mark Warby found the actions of the publication an invasion of Meghan Markle's privacy, as well as a violation of her copyright.
The next court hearing is due in March. Then the question of the amount of financial compensation that the Duchess of Sussex will receive may be resolved.
“The world needs reliable, high quality, fact-checking sources of information. The Mail on Sunday and its partner publications are quite the opposite, ” Markle said after the judge's decision was announced.
Excerpts from the letter to Markle and her father Thomas Markle were published in February 2019. It follows from the letter that the daughter broke off all relations with her father. He also gave The Mail on Sunday the text of the letter, where the Duchess accused him of lying and trying to make money on pseudo-sensational interviews about her daughter.
Earlier, Meghan Markle refused to travel to the UK for the Queen's birthday.
