A “worrying” strain of coronavirus discovered in Britain

The SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which caused the pandemic, continues to mutate; in the UK, two variants differing from the original “parent” have already been identified. While we are talking about concerns, there are no data for final conclusions.

British scientists have already recorded 76 cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which mutated in two directions, according to Sky News.

New mutations have been identified in Bristol and Liverpool. Moreover, the concern of specialists is precisely the Bristol version of SARS-CoV-2. Experts in the Advisory Group on New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats believe that this strain may not only be more infectious, but it may also interact with and counteract the vaccine in a special way.

The publication clarifies that so far these are only concerns. The researchers believe that people who receive the vaccine will be protected from the severe effects of these forms of SARS-CoV-2. Health officials also told the publication a high degree of confidence that the vaccine will continue to work against these variants of the virus.

According to the interlocutors of the publication, now there are four strains of coronavirus in the world that are of concern to scientists: two British, one from South Africa, and one from Brazil.
