SpaceX's new spacecraft explodes on landing

Billionaire Elon Musk's company SpaceX has failed a new test flight of the Starship SN9 spacecraft, which they plan to use in the future to conquer the Moon and Mars.

Reported by CNN.

The ninth trial, which took place on February 2, ended in failure. The prototype rocket exploded upon attempting to land. The reason for the incident is still unknown.

The ship was launched from a launch pad near the town of Boca Chica in Texas. Now the Starship SN10 modification is being installed there.

In total, SpaceX is simultaneously building seven different modifications of the spacecraft. However, each of them requires permission from the US Federal Aviation Administration to launch.

Starship is the next-generation reusable spacecraft that SpaceX hopes to use to transport humans to Mars and other planets in the solar system.

Recall that the test flight of the previous version of the Starship SN8 was also unsuccessful — after launch, the rocket simply could not take off.

We also wrote that Elon Musk announced the first Starship flight in low-earth orbit already in 2021.
