The US is not interfering in the protests in Russia — Blinken

The day before, the Russian Foreign Ministry demanded that the State Department and the American Embassy stop interfering in Russia's internal affairs.

The United States is not interfering in the protests in Russia, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in an interview with NBC.

“The Russian government is making a big mistake if it thinks it's about us. It's about them. It's the government. It's about the feeling of despair and hopelessness that the people of Russia feel from corruption, from autocracy, and I think that they need to look inside, not outside, “ he commented on the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry demanding that the Americans stop interfering in Russia's internal affairs.

Blinken also said he was “deeply concerned about the violent crackdown” on protests in Russia, as well as the arrests of protesters across the country.

He added that at the moment, the United States, in addition to the situation with Alexei Navalny, is considering options for responding to other “ Russian actions that cause concern.”

Recall that on the eve of protests in support of Navalny were held in different cities of Russia, a record number of protesters was detained-more than five thousand people.
