Anti-corruption program developed in Cyprus
The Government of Cyprus has presented a list of new measures to combat corruption. According to President Nicos Anastasiades and Minister of Justice and Public Order Emil Yoliti, the country will establish special units under the Prosecutor General's Office and develop a code for officials.
“Our plans aim to strengthen the legislative, political, financial, and social environment as much as possible through actions divided into three main areas. The first is prevention, education, and awareness. The second is legislative action. And the third is monitoring and risk assessment,” Anastasiades said.
For its part, Yoliti announced the creation of an anti-corruption unit under the Attorney General and the development of a code of ethics for all public officials.
There are also plans to set up an academic council to monitor corruption and develop methods to fight it.
