Pentagon suspended consideration of a number of Trump's appointments
The U.S. Defense Department has suspended consideration of a number of recent appointments by former U.S. President Donald Trump to an advisory board, Politico reported, citing a letter received by board members.
“The effort is aimed<...> to determine whether the appointments were politically motivated,” a source who confirmed the authenticity of the information explained to the publication.
The suspension of consideration of the Trump administration's proposed nominees applies only to those who have not yet been sworn in or filled out the necessary paperwork, the report said.
In particular, Trump's 2016 campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and former adviser to his campaign team David Bossie have been temporarily barred from serving on teams advising the defense secretary, Politico noted.
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that the administration of the new US President Joe Biden imposed a temporary ban on the sale of US weapons to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates due to the review of a number of deals approved by former President Donald Trump.
