If Iran returns to the nuclear deal, the U.S. will need time
The United States expects Iran to return to fulfilling its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). New U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said this, as broadcast by the U.S. State Department.
“On Iran, President Biden has made it clear that if Iran returns to full compliance with its commitments under the JCPOA, the United States will do the same,” Blinken said.
However, according to the head of U.S. diplomacy, that “is still a long way off.”
“Iran is not complying with the agreement on a number of fronts, and if it chooses to do so, to return to complying with the agreement, it will take us some time to assess whether it is meeting its obligations,” Blinken said.
Earlier, the new head of the State Department said the international community “needs U.S. leadership.”
