There are anti-American protests in Iraq

Thousands of protesters are calling on the Iraqi authorities to stay away from the conflict between America and Iran.

Thousands of Iraqis have taken part in protests, which now have slogans both against the U.S. and for, the Daily Star website reported.

The edition specifies that the demonstrators — against the background of a sharp escalation of tension between Washington and Tehran — call on Iraq to stay away from the conflict between the United States and Iran.

Demonstrations are taking place in Tahrir Square in Baghdad, as well as in a number of areas in the predominantly Shia-populated south of Iraq — in the cities of Ed-Divaniyah, Nasiriyah, Basra, Najaf, and Kerbela.

As reported, the third rocket attack in Iraq in a week has already occurred. Recall that on the night of January 8, Iran launched a missile attack on U.S. military facilities in Iraq. It was a response to the elimination of Iranian General Kassem Suleimani in Baghdad by the U.S. military.

The operation was called “Martyr Suleimani". About two dozen ground-to-ground missiles were fired at U.S. facilities. Iran has reported the death of 80 Americans. The United States, in turn, indicated that there were no casualties. There was also a video from the U.S. base after the shell.
