Sony to release a compact smartphone
Sony has planned the release of a compact smartphone. This is reported by Engadget, citing a network insider OnLeaks.
The author said that the Japanese company intends to continue the production of the phone line Compact. One of the new devices will be a model with a reduced 5.5-inch screen. According to journalists, the device will compete with the smallest smartphone Apple and could become the killer iPhone 12 mini.
It is known that the device will get a dual camera with a 13-megapixel main lens and an 8-megapixel selfie camera, a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, and a fingerprint sensor built into the side button. The rest of the specs — processor model and memory details — were not disclosed. The device should be released in February, it will go on sale in the spring.
The last device in Sony's series of miniature smartphones was the Xperia XZ2 Compact, released in spring 2018. In comparison, the iPhone 12 mini has a 5.4-inch OLED screen, Apple's A14 Bionic chip, from 64 gigabytes of internal memory, a dual 12-megapixel camera, and a 2,227 milliampere-hour battery.
In December, journalists of The Verge called the iPhone 12 mini one of the top smartphones of 2020. The model was noted for its outstanding performance and compact design.
