Italian actress and director Asia Argento are known for being one of the first to publicly accuse Harvey Weinstein of rape, leading the #MeToo movement.
Asia Argento, an Italian actress, and leader of the #MeToo anti-harassment movement have accused “Fast and Furious” and “Three Stooges” director Rob Cohen of rape. The incident took place in 2002, during the filming of the action movie “The Three Stooges”.
According to the 45-year-old actress, before the rape, Cohen, who was 52 at the time, forced her to drink butyrate, a drug often used by rapists to render their victims unconscious. “At the time, I really didn't know what it was. Cohen had a whole bottle. I woke up in the morning naked in his bed,” Argento shared.
The actress detailed what happened in her autobiography, “Anatomy of a Wild Heart,” which goes on sale January 26. Argento added that she did not make accusations against Cohen for two reasons: she did not immediately realize that the director drugged her, and also the actress did not want to spoil Cohen's reputation.
This isn't the first time Cohen has been accused of sexual harassment. In 2019, the director's inappropriate behavior was revealed by his daughter, Valkyrie Weathers, who later came out as a trans man. According to Weathers, his father repeatedly molested him as a child. Also in 2019, Jane, 28, who wished not to reveal her last name, claimed that the director raped her while she was unconscious.
Cohen vehemently denies all of the allegations. “He and Asia Argento had a wonderful working relationship while working together. Mr. Cohen considered her a friend, so her statement about the events of 2002 is puzzling, especially given what we have learned about her in recent years,” said the director's representative.
Jimmy Bennett and Asia Argento
We are talking about the 2018 scandal when musician and actor Jimmy Bennett said publicly that Argento forced him to have sex by paying him $380,000 to keep quiet. The incident happened in 2013. Documents confirming the deal, as well as evidence of Argento and Bennett's relationship (at the time she was 37 years old, and he was 17) are at the disposal of The New York Times editorial board.
Argento later admitted to having sex with Bennett. She said that she met him in a hotel and promised to shoot him in her film. According to her, the initiator of the intimacy was Bennett.
Asia Argento and Harvey Weinstein
Recall that Asia Argento was one of the first to publicly accuse Harvey Weinstein of rape, leading the #MeToo movement. Last year, the producer was sentenced to 23 years in prison as the court found two episodes of the criminal case proven. These were rape in 2013 and forced oral sex in 2006.
