In Switzerland, five people die after the coronavirus vaccine
Since the beginning of the national program to immunize the Swiss population against coronavirus infection, vaccines have been administered to more than 170 thousand people, of whom five have died. The first such incident took place back in December.
This was reported by the press service of the local pharmaceutical regulator Swissmedic.
In total, by January 21, 42 reports of cases of adverse reactions to the vaccine were received, of which 16 led to serious consequences, and five to death.
All five deceased were patients aged 84-92 years. It is also emphasized that age-related diseases were the cause of their death, so this is not related to vaccination.
Against this background, the Swiss experts concluded that there was no change in the positive benefit/risk ratio of vaccines.
It is also emphasized that in Switzerland, every 4 weeks (the required period between vaccine injections), about 2300 people over 85 die.
Recall that at the moment several vaccines have been approved in the country: Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna.
We also reported on an investigation following the death of vaccinated patients in Norway.
