The full Dutch government is resigning after a scandal with child allowances, reports Europe News, citing the local edition of the NL Times.
It is reported that the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, will soon submit a formal request for his resignation to King Willem-Alexander.
However, the ministers will perform their duties until a new government is chosen. The Cabinet will continue to deal with current affairs, including the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Ministers will leave more controversial and sensitive issues to the next government.
The scandal arose after the authorities falsely accused thousands of families of fraudulent child benefit payments and ordered them to return the money paid. In some cases, tens of thousands of euros were involved.
