The U.S. authorities have blacklisted nine Chinese companies, including aircraft manufacturer Comac and smartphone maker Xiaomi.
U.S. investors will have to get rid of their assets in the companies from the blacklist until November 11, 2021, writes Reuters. The Chinese embassy in Washington, Xiaomi, and Comac did not respond to requests for comment.
The sanctions are related to a law from 1999 by which the U.S. Department of Defense compiles a list of companies associated with China's military, the newspaper said. According to its data, currently, there are 35 companies on the list, including chipmaker SMIC.
