Mitch McConnell has no intention of convening senators before Biden's inauguration
The Republican leader of the United States Senate, Mitch McConnell, does not intend to assemble senators, who are now on recess, to consider impeaching President Donald Trump, at least until Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20.
His representatives said so, according to the Washington Post.
McConnell said he is not going to convene the Senate on Friday, January 15, or “at all until January 19,” that is, until Biden's inauguration.
Thus, Donald Trump's impeachment process will likely not take place until Biden is sworn in on January 20, which could delay or slow down the new president's government nominations.
Senator McConnell's spokesman Doug Andres also confirmed the publication's information on Twitter.
“I can confirm,” he wrote, posting a link to the Washington Post story.
