Acting U.S. President Donald Trump, in a conversation with Republican Kevin McCartney, admitted that he bears some blame for the riots at the Capitol.
According to Fox News, the Republican leader said so in the House of Representatives at a Republican Party conference call.
In turn, the politician suggested that Trump call President-elect Joe Biden and congratulate him on winning the election.
It is noted that before the meeting, McCartney, who is one of Trump's closest allies, sent a letter to his fellow Republicans stating that he opposed impeachment.
Instead, he offered a number of other options, which some members of the Republican Party have expressed an interest in pursuing. These proposals include a resolution condemning Trump and the creation of a commission of inquiry into the Capitol attack.
We previously reported that two police officers were suspended because of the Capitol assault.
