Congress wants to limit “unbalanced” Trump's access to nuclear weapons

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress Nancy Pelosi discussed with the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Armed Forces Mark Milley precautions against the access of the current President Donald Trump to the “nuclear button”, as well as the possibility of him starting military action.

This is stated in Pelosi's letter to lawmakers, reports CNN.

In the address to lawmakers, Pelosi specifically calls Trump an “unbalanced president.”

“I have spoken with Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley to discuss possible precautions to prevent an unstable president from initiating military action or gaining access to launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike,” the letter says.

Pelosi stresses that everything should be done to protect the American people from Donald Trump's “inadequate attack on our country and our democracy.”

She also hopes to hear from Pence soon about Trump's removal from office.

“Almost fifty years ago, after years of helping their rogue president, Republicans in Congress finally told President Nixon it was time to go. Today, after the president's dangerous and inflammatory actions, Republicans in Congress should follow suit and call on Trump to leave office — immediately,” said the House Speaker.

Recall that on January 6, during the approval of the presidential election results by Congress, thousands of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, which resulted in the interruption of the parliamentary session. The riots resulted in the deaths of five people and dozens were detained.

Against this backdrop, Nancy Pelosi called for Trump's immediate removal from power.

If U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and the U.S. administration do not remove President Donald Trump from office, Congress will initiate impeachment proceedings.
