The head of Tesla became the richest man in the world with a fortune of over 185 billion dollars. The rise in Tesla's stock price on Thursday, Jan. 7, allowed Musk to overtake Bezos, who has been the richest man since 2017.
Earlier on Jan. 7, it was reported that Musk had moved closer to the title of the richest man in the world. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk was in second place among the richest people on the planet, behind the list leader Bezos by only three billion dollars.
In the summer of 2020, it became known that the fortune of the Amazon founder grew by a record $13 billion on July 20. The billionaire was able to set a new record because the company's stock soared 7.9 percent over the day and 73 percent over the year. At the time, Bezos's fortune was estimated at $189 billion.
