The Capitol building in Washington has been cleared of protesters supporters of incumbent U.S. President Donald Trump. It is reported by Politico correspondent Hugo Lowell.
According to his information, protesters who broke into the building of Congress a few hours ago are being taken out through the West and East entrances of the Capitol.
Protesters stormed the building and surrounded the Senate chamber on Jan. 6. The Senate and House of Representatives interrupted a session scheduled to approve the results of the electoral college vote, according to which Democrat Joe Biden won the presidential election. Trump himself urged supporters to act peacefully and support the police.
