Acting U.S. President Donald Trump ordered to send National Guard troops to Washington to help maintain order. This is reported by the press secretary of the American leader Kayleigh McEnany.
It is noted that the National Guard of Washington has already been raised. In addition, fighters are being sent from the neighboring state of Virginia.
Earlier, Trump supporters clashed with police near the Capitol in Washington. Police used tear gas and non-lethal weapons to disperse them, and several people were injured. Protesters stormed the building and surrounded the Senate chamber. The Senate and House of Representatives adjourned. One of the protesters was later shot in the chest in the U.S. Congress building. Trump himself urged supporters to act peacefully and support the police.
