In Washington, tens of thousands of supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump came out to protest against the results of the election, which was won by Democrat Joe Biden.
It is noted that the crowd gathered south of the White House and is waiting for Trump's speech. A march to the Capitol, where Congress is expected to approve the election results, is then planned.
“We just came to support President Trump,” one of the protesters is quoted as saying.
Trump still won't concede defeat in the presidential election. Nevertheless, 306 electors voted for Biden and 232 for Trump. The inauguration of the president-elect is scheduled for January 20.
