Since 2018, the American MQ-9 Reaper drones have been stationed at a military base in Poland, and now the squadron will be on a permanent basis in Romania.

The United States has deployed a squadron of reconnaissance and strike drones MQ-9 Reaper at Campia-Turzii air base in Romania, according to the US Air Force Command in Europe and Africa.

“The US Air Force has deployed MQ-9 Reaper drones and about 90 troops at 71st Campia Turzii Air Base in Romania for reconnaissance and observation missions in support of NATO operations,” the statement said.

In 2018, MQ-9 Reaper drones were permanently deployed at the 12th Miroslawiec Air Force Base of Poland.

The MQ-9 Reaper was widely used by the US military to deliver pinpoint strikes against targets of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.

The drone is capable of staying in the air for 27 hours and flying at a range of up to 2 thousand km and can carry 1.7 tons of payload, including guided missiles, bombs on external suspensions, and is also equipped with onboard optoelectronic and radio-electronic reconnaissance equipment.
