The U.S. government is considering introducing only half a dose of Moderna vaccine to certain categories of citizens.
This is reported by Reuters, referring to the head of the Warp Speed program to accelerate the development and distribution of the vaccine Moncef Slaoui.
He said the measure would allow twice as many people to be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the same volume of the vaccine. It's about administering half the dose of Moderna's product to people between the ages of 18 and 55.
Slaoui added that officials are in talks with Moderna and the U.S. medical regulator (FDA) about this. The immune response is identical to the full-dose response, the expert noted.
We previously reported that current U.S. President Donald Trump said that the U.S. is overstating deaths from COVID-19.
