The United States will speak with North Korean authorities who want to engage in dialogue with the US side. This was announced on Thursday by US President Donald Trump during a conversation with reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before flying to Florida, reports usatodaynews.live.
“We’ll see. They want to talk (with the USA), and we will talk to them soon. We’ll see what happens,” the head of the Washington administration said, answering a question about the upcoming US-North Korean consultations, which are expected to be held in Sweden at the end of the week.
According to the Renhap agency, the North Korean delegation led by Foreign Ministry spokesman Kim Myung-Gil flew from Beijing on Thursday to Stockholm, where negotiations with US diplomats are due.
Earlier it was reported that the parties will hold a preliminary meeting on October 4, and the next day will begin working negotiations. The Swedish Foreign Ministry has not yet confirmed information about a possible meeting of representatives of the United States and North Korea in Stockholm.
Recall, we recently reported that Donald Trump intends to meet with Kim Jong-un before the end of the year.
In addition, Kim Jong-un said earlier that for Pyongyang, the abolition of existing economic sanctions against his country plays a lesser role than maintaining the political system in North Korea.
We also wrote about the February summit of the US and DPRK leaders. The main goal of the negotiations was the nuclear disarmament of the Korean Peninsula. However, the parties could not reach consensus and prematurely terminated the meeting.
